Evoke’s repertoire is quite eclectic, from classics of the choral repertoire such as Tudor anthems and Romantic partsongs, to contemporary works from composers across the globe. Evoke aims to maintain a highly versatile musical style whilst building a core repertoire that is well-known by the choir and off-copy. Some good arrangements of pop, rock and jazz repertoire will also make an appearance.
Our inaugural concert was a mix of sacred works by composers that included early works by Byrd and Gasparini, Romantic classics by Brahms and Rheinberger, as well as some lesser known works by Hungarian composer Bardos. 2016 also included an interesting project featuring composers that hail from the Scandinavian countries, including Holmboe, Lange-Müller and Nielsen.
Major events in 2017 will include repertoire by Rautavaara (Suite de Lorca), Waldenby (Hominies Dies), Howells, Byrd, Vaughan Williams and Moses Hogan.
