Heavenly Star

Christmas with Evoke & Friends

Oh come all ye faithful singers to Evoke as we bring joy to the world this Christmas!

Christmas is a time for sharing warmth, love and friendship – and there’s no better way to do that than singing together.  This year Evoke is inviting you to come and sing with us for our Christmas project, Heavenly Star.

Repertoire
On the musical menu you will find:

Mendelssohn, Im Advent (from Sech Sprüche)
Mendelssohn, Es wird ein Stern
Dove, Seek Him that Maketh the Seven Stars

Pärt, Christ is the Morning Star
Tchaikovsky, Crown of Roses
Ponton, Jesus Christ the Apple Tree

Todd, Softly
Rutter, Star Carol
Forrest, The First Noel

Plus congregational carols for everyone to get involved.

Who can join?
Singers of all voiceparts can apply to be an honorary member of Evoke.  We are looking for experienced, confident singers with good vocal technique, reasonable sight-reading skills and an ability to learn music quickly.  You will identify closely with the core ethos of Evoke – inclusion, acceptance, friendship and excellence – and enjoy the social aspects of choir as much as the singing.

What does it cost?
There is no subscription fee to join us this Christmas but all members are expected to sell a minimum of three tickets for the concert, or to donate the equivalent financial amount (£30) in cases where three tickets are not sold.  Most scores will be provided but members should provide their own copy of 100 Carols for Choirs.

How do I apply?
To apply, please complete this application form outlining your experience and upload a recording of yourself singing the first verse of any well-known Christmas Carol (eg. Silent Night. Oh Come all ye Faithful, etc) unaccompanied.  Recordings can be taken on a smart phone.

Places will be awarded and/or limited with the aim to achieve a balanced ensemble.  Any Sopranos and Altos who BYOTOB (Bring Your Own Tenor Or Bass) will be viewed very positively and help to increase the number of places available overall.

Places will be awarded on a first in, best dressed policy.  But we’d really love to know who is joining us by 1st November.
