Evoke join with Anglistenchor Heidelberg in a friendship exchange commemorating the centenary of WWI as part of the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London.
In a deeply emotional and moving programme, the combined choirs will explore the breadth of musical expression of human conflict, misery, loss, redemption and peace.
Along with Macmillan Miserere, Parry Songs of Farewell and the profoundly beautiful Howells Requiem, the programme includes pieces rarely performed in the UK by German composers. The heartbreakingly emotive Wie liegt die Stadt so Wüst by Mauersberger and Hessenberg’s powerful setting of the Peace Prayer of St Francis of Assisi, O Herr, mache mich zum Werkzeug deines Friedens, will leave audiences breathless.
